The Issue

On May 23rd, 2025, I, Timothy Moss, faced a heartbreaking ultimatum. Chickasaw County Mississippi Deputy Beau Yeatman threatened me with arrest and a potential 30-year jail sentence unless I forced the women residing in our sanctuary house back onto the streets. These women, human beings just like us, didn’t deserve such a fate. The undignified notion of evicting an 80-year-old woman to fend for herself on the unforgiving streets is beyond comprehension. We believe that together, we can make significant strides in securing dignified housing for those in need.

The charges leveled against me and the Bread Of Hope Church are not just unfair—they are emblematic of a deeper systemic issue of how people experiencing homelessness are treated and perceived. Our mission has always been to offer hope and assistance to those who need it most, ensuring that no one is left without a place to lay their head simply because affordable housing is out of reach.

The actions of the Chickasaw County Sheriff's Department in arresting those who are trying to help others represent a concerning misuse of power and a blatant violation of civil rights. This unjust treatment demands accountability and change from the law enforcement agencies in Mississippi. Our goal is to have all charges against me, Timothy Moss, and the Bread Of Hope Church dropped immediately.

We urge the law enforcement community and the state authorities of Mississippi to acknowledge their responsibility towards upholding the civil rights of all citizens—housed or otherwise. By signing this petition, you are standing in solidarity with us to demand justice, accountability, and a humane approach to homelessness.

Let us come together to say that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and to remind the authorities that no one deserves to be without a home or hope. Sign this petition to help us rectify this situation and ensure that helping others is not a crime.
