Ontario electricity rate of 12.8 cents per KWh hour 24 HOURS A DAY is unfair.

The Issue

The new policy by Ontario Government has introduced a new electricity rate at 12.8 cents per kilowatt hour 24 HOURS A DAY. This fixed price will be in effect from June 1 - Oct. 31. This fixed price is almost as high as the On-Peak price this time last summer and double the OFF-Peak price (summer rates 2019).

This “recovery” rate is not helpful for low income residents living in Ontario. There is no opportunity to save money and no incentive to conserve. Not to mention we are still in a State of Emergency AND there are still a number of families working from home or not working at all.

The people who took advantage of the variable rates were mostly low income families. They're the ones who need your help and the relief now.

When you don't have money, you need lower hydro bills. 10 cents a KWh...in the middle between 7 and 13 cents, would have been better or just leave the variable rates as was done in 2019.

Can't figure out how 12.8 would be good for anyone that is struggling. You can use the money charged for zero usage delivery to vacant cottages to subsidize it. I think it's substantial.

This does not provide relief for low income families who were able to take advantage of off peak rates to lower their hydro costs before?

This must be stopped!!!
