Anthony DeNardo started this petition to Governor Doug Ducey and

There are plans to install a water treatment facility (sewage treatment facility) in the backyard of our community. Many houses will be within 1200 feet of this facility. This will not only impact our property values, but also our quality of living due to the odor created from the facility, but also the bacteria that will be present in the air that we will be breathing in on a daily basis. There are also rumors this facility will be within close proximity of a well that supplies our drinking water and water we use every day. This petition is to serve as a means to stop this from happening. We understand the needs for such a facility, but it should not be allowed or built in such close proximity to an established neighborhood that has existed for over a decade.

We all enjoy time outdoors to enjoy fresh air whether it be relaxing in our backyards, taking a walk, riding a bike or visiting with our fellow neighbors. This facility being so close will take away that enjoyment because all you will smell is the waste water. Our property values will suffer. The zone being coded for industrial will allow other types of factories meaning chemicals. Keep in mind, there is a well that is nearby and chemical spills as well as the bacteria from the sewage plant will impact our drinking water and water we use every day. Furthermore, this will be right next to an active railroad and even though derailments are rare, there are other dangers associated with this such as the vibrations of passing trains putting stress on the walls of the sewage containment tanks which could lead to ruptures and contamination of the entire zone with sewage. Do you really want that near where your children and you live, play and mingle? Potential factories with the new zoning will also invite other types of noise pollution into our beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Not only will property values suffer, but think about how hard it will be to sell if or when that time comes.
