Don't let war stop Siham reaching Glasgow Uni
The Issue
Urgent Appeal: An urgent appeal to help a Gaza student reach the University of Glasgow before 31 August 2026
Imagine working for years for one opportunity.
Imagine studying through war, uncertainty and unimaginable disruption — and still achieving a 95.9% Tawjihi average.
Imagine finally receiving the message you have dreamed of: you have been accepted into the University of Glasgow.
That is what happened to me.
My name is Siham AlHinnawi, and I am a student from Gaza. I have been accepted to study BSc (Hons) Neuroscience at the University of Glasgow for the 2026–27 academic year.
I have an Unconditional Offer and a CAS.
I have earned my place.
But I am still in Gaza.
And now, with the deadline of 31 August 2026 approaching, I need urgent help to make this opportunity possible.
I am not asking for someone to give me an education I did not earn.
I am asking for help to reach the education I have already earned.
The remaining barrier is financial sponsorship. Under the official UK Gaza evacuation scheme, students must hold a verified full scholarship covering tuition and living costs to be eligible for travel and visa processing.
I need a recognised organisation, charity, foundation, or philanthropic donor able to provide the required full financial guarantee.
Without this full scholarship, my university place and my chance of safety remain something I can see but cannot reach.
For a student in Gaza, this is not an ordinary financial difficulty.
There are circumstances beyond my control preventing me from simply paying the required costs myself and travelling normally.
I have already spent years watching my education and future become uncertain because of circumstances I never chose.
I do not want another year of my life to be lost.
This is why I am asking you to stand with me.
Please help us reach the University of Glasgow, charitable foundations, educational organisations, philanthropists, donors and relevant authorities.
We are asking them to do everything possible to find an urgent full-funding solution before 31 August 2026.
A petition alone cannot provide the funding I need.
But it can do something incredibly important:
It can make my situation visible.
It can show decision-makers that people around the world believe a student's future should not be determined by the place where she was born.
It can help this appeal reach someone who has the ability to help.
It can connect my case with a charity, foundation, philanthropist, university donor or organisation that may be able to provide the required sponsorship.
Please help me turn an acceptance letter into a real future.
If you are a:
🎓 University of Glasgow student or graduate
📚 Professor, researcher or academic
🇬🇧 UK charity or educational organisation
💙 Philanthropist or donor
📰 Journalist or media organisation
🌍 Organisation supporting students from Gaza
🤝 Or simply someone who believes education should not be lost because of war
Please sign this petition and share it.
If you cannot provide financial support, your signature and your voice can still help this appeal reach someone who can.
One share could reach the right person.
One signature could help demonstrate that people care.
One connection could make the difference between an opportunity being lost and a student being able to continue her education.
I have worked for this place.
I have earned the grades.
I have received the acceptance.
I have received the CAS.
Now I need help reaching the university that accepted me.
Please stand with me before 31 August 2026.
Help Siham reach Glasgow.
Help protect her university place.
Help turn an opportunity into a future.
Please sign. Please share. Please help us find the organisation or person who can provide the full sponsorship needed.
Thank you for standing with me.
