Kemper Arena is currently being threatened to be torn down by the American Royal. The American Royal wants to construct a new, smaller complex on the land to better suit their needs and is asking for $50 million in public funding. Unfortunately, the American Royal has a lot of political power behind it in Kansas City, and the destruction of Kemper Arena is a real possibility.

Kemper Arena has an incredible history in Kansas City. Opening in 1974, the arena won awards for the modern design and architecture of the building. It has been home to NBA and NHL teams, a Final Four, a political national convention, and hosted concerts for the biggest names.
