The Issue

The Council are closing down MAP Studio Cafe.

MAP’s venue is under threat. We need your help!

Despite the venues long history, Camden council are refusing to grant us the licensing required to operate as a venue unless an excessive amount of money is invested in building costs - we feel this to be disproportionate and unreasonable and is tantamount to serving a death knell to a vital cultural, community institution.
We are a small grassroots venue and have no budget for the kind of capital investment they are proposing we undertake in order to stay open.

As well as looking at various means to raise money such grants and private investment we’re launching this petition demonstrate a show of support that we can use to evidence MAP’s cultural importance as a heritage live music venue.

MAP Studio Cafe, through its music venue, cafe and recording studio has served as a vital cultural hub for the local community and wider London music scene for over 25 years. Often as a launchpad and testing ground for artists and promoters and has played an important role in the careers of many established artists such as Miss Dynamite, Omar, Geordie Greep and Lava La Rue.

We work hard to serve the community with an eclectic programme of events plus regular jam nights, open mic, comedy and jazz as well as bespoke private parties, birthdays and wakes etc
MAP also plays a key role in the yearly  Alma Street festival - a summer community street party where we programme our own live music stage.

Please don’t let MAP go the way of so many other small music venues. Help us demonstrate to Camden (a borough that claims to pride itself on its musical heritage and applauding grass roots businesses) that we are an institution worth saving.
