Uniform Policy in the Dominican Republic

Uniform Policy in the Dominican Republic

The Issue

In the Dominican Republic, most children cannot afford uniforms which is the only thing they have to pay for in public schools in order to receive education. All schools in the Dominican Republic require a uniform, private or public. An education is the first step to children getting out of poverty in most cases. If the uniform policy is removed, there will be less poverty in the Dominican Republic, so it would not only benefit the children but the government too.

I suppose it is possible to try to raise money for the children to get a uniform, but that would not pay for everyone, and children outgrow their uniforms. It has been a long-lasting tradition in the Dominican Republic to have uniforms, but the cons outweigh the pros in this scenario and something needs to be done about this by the government.

The cure to cancer may be trapped in the mind of a child that is too poor to attend school.
