The Issue

Clayton Kershaw isn’t just one of the greatest pitchers in Dodgers history — he’s one of the greatest to ever play the game. And after nearly two decades of excellence, leadership, and loyalty, he's retiring at the end of this season. It’s time for the Dodgers to retire his iconic number 22.

From his three Cy Young Awards to a long-overdue World Series win in 2020, Kershaw defined a generation of Dodgers baseball. He gave us fans everything: the strikeouts, the emotion, the impossible consistency. His career stats speak for themselves: over 3,000 strikeouts, a career ERA under 3.00, and 11 All-Star appearances.

But beyond the numbers, Kershaw was the heart of this team. Through injuries, heartbreaks, and comebacks, he never stopped showing up for Los Angeles — on and off the field. His charitable work helped kids at home and around the world. He’s the kind of player every franchise dreams of, and the kind of legacy that deserves permanent recognition.

We, the fans, are asking Dodgers ownership to retire jersey #22 and raise it into the rafters at Dodger Stadium, where it belongs. Let future generations of fans know exactly what Kershaw meant to this city and this team.

Let’s make it official: no one else should ever wear #22 in Dodger blue again!!
