Assuredly, all Americans should have equal rights under the law!  The "Defense of Marriage Act" (DOMA) denies marriage equality to same sex couples, and prevents the federal government from recognizing same sex marriages even when they have been legally performed in states such as Iowa, Vermont, and Massachusetts.  Marriage provides more than a thousand legal protections to families.  A right to marry is a fundamental civil right. Discrimination must end and the legal marriages of same sex couples must be recognized by the federal government.
