Do Not Evict the Occupy Philadelphia Protesters

Do Not Evict the Occupy Philadelphia Protesters
The Issue
DO NOT EVICT the Occupy Philadelphia Movement in November from the west plaza of City Hall for Construction. Instead we ask that the Office of Mayor, City Counsel and City Planners find an alternative space to peacefully move the protesters so they may continue their Peaceful Protest and exercise their First Amendment Right to Peacefully Assemble and Speak.
Philadelphia has been one of the few peaceful Occupy Protests in the country, with no significant confrontations between protesters and police. Evicting the protesters is a direct action which many protesters potentially see as an assault on the protest on behalf of the City of Philadelphia and thus cause undue confrontation between the protesters and police. We ask that the city, in coordination with protest lawyers create an alternative plan to peacefully relocate the protesters to another safe space in the city center where they can continue exercising their First Amendment Rights. We stand in Solidarity.
