Dissolve the Minority Commission to Promote Greater Unity and Equality

Dissolve the Minority Commission to Promote Greater Unity and Equality
The Issue
Our society has, over time, nurtured various institutions with the noble intention of defending and advancing minority rights. One such is the Minority Commission in our state. However, it is with deep concern that it's observed that the Commission, instead of creating harmony, is perpetuating divisions in our society. Established to protect minorities, the existence of this Commission is now viewed as offering special privileges to certain sections, thereby breeding resentment among the majority of the population.
While aimed at fostering inclusivity, it has veered towards creating an unequal society. A 2016 study by Yale University reveals that preferential policies can often lead to significant social and ethnic tensions (Mitra & Ray, 2016). In light of this study, and the discontent brewing, it is time to reconsider the relevance of the Minority Commission. Harmonious co-existence can best be cultivated in an environment free from bias and discrimination. Therefore, we call upon the state governance structure to dissolve the Minority Commission, to inspire a more unified and equal society for all.
