I am a student at Tshwane University of technology and I stay in one of their residences called Minjonet. It is a girls only residence and it accomodate more than 250 girls. The conditions in this res are not for any living human being. Besides the fact that we cannot cook in this res we are forced to bath with cold water. Some of the showers don't work and some of the toilets have been blocked for more than 2 months, some since I got to this res. The rooms are infested with cockroaches and most of the appliances don't work. We have Brocken furniture, most of their closet doors are not working or you won't find a door at all. Lights in our rooms don't work. When you report a certain problem they do not take it into consideration. I've been staying in this res for 6 months now and I've never seen them coming into our rooms to inspect or check if the furniture is in full piece. Downstairs they have a maintenance book that we have to fill out if we have Brocken appliances or if something in our room is not working, but they never check the book. For 4 months drains in our rooms where blocked and they did not fix them. The only time they fixed them was when our floor was flooding. Most floors get flooded because some toilets are not working and most bath tubs don't work. We have a laundry room with about 6 machines and only 3 of the 6 work well, we have 6 dryers and only 2 of the 6 work well. The management of this residence does not put our complains 1st. The only thing they do is spot fine us R25-R100 if you did one tiny mistake. We are forced to greet each other in French and call them gestionnaire and litteraire but they do not put our needs 1st. If ever you forget to address them in French you will not get help or you might be fined. We really need better living conditions or a better res manager since our management doesn't care about us. first year students have a group chat for complaints but the group chats have been disabled and we cannot complain. We need inspectors to come and inspect this place because the conditions here are not good. We are tired of taking a bath with cold water everyday.
