SWGC is a public TVET college located in Johannesburg, It is a college where the majority have not received their nsfas allowance making it if not difficult than impossible to learn..."Nsfas Allowance allocations will commence on February,leave your student number and we will be able to help you"... Those were the words spoken to SWGC students for the last months. They are expected to go to school and learn. Many have signed their agreements and handed in the necessary documents but to no qavai do they get funding. They have went on strike but we given false hopes and promises of fund allocation,lists were released that was meant to help them stay informed on who were going to get nsfas but only 9 or less have been paid one could say those paid were meant to give hope to those unpaid students so that they can stop their bickering. Many students come from far places and were forced to study at SWGC because of space constraints in higher education institutions these students rent near the college,they rely on nsfas accomodation allowance to pay their rent as they can't afford to pay... They are at the potential of being thrown out the streets as the rent out private non accredited accommodation as SWGC does not have accredited accommodation. Assignments are due and these students are not able to do them effectively what about groceries? hunger and poverty is their friend. These  students have done all they possibly can ,they have enquired with nsfas via the hotline to only be told that money has been allocated and sent to SWGC and that nsfas has given them student allowances so that SWGC can pass them on to their students. What then is going on? Is perhaps corruption on the loose? SWGC are pleading with nsfas and the department of higher education and training should they receive this message to run a thorough investigation on the school and the allocation of funds ,they believe that justice should be heard. these SWGC students really need the money now more than ever especially with the transcition to online learning because we all know that data is expensive and not all of us can afford it especially seeing as we come from different backgrounds.
