Department of Higher Education and Training

The Department of Higher Education and Training, also known as the DHET, is a government agency responsible for promoting quality higher education and vocational training in alignment with the country’s needs for skilled personnel. Its key responsibilities include formulating and implementing policy on higher education and technical vocational education and training (TVET), developing and maintaining the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), and providing financial support to eligible students through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. Their mission is to ensure that learners can seamlessly enter the workplace to contribute to national development.
