Children attend school 5 days a week for over 6 hours a day. Being sent home with home work to continue studies at home impacts on family life and the child's choice to spend their free time from education to simply be a child. Children are tired when they come home from school like us adults are when we have been at work, all we want to do is sit and relax and let our minds switch off a little. Children are not able to do this because they are under so much pressure to get homework done and hit home reading targets. As parents we are all for encouraging our children to learn but is this not why they attend education? They learn at home through different techniques that still give them the freedom to enjoy their childhood. School work should be left at school and not influenced on to the child's own time. It's not because we are LAZY parents that can not be bothered but if your child gets upset because they are physically and mentally drained from their day at school that they just simply can't bring themselves to continue studies at home then they shouldn't be doing it. Children as young as 4 are being sent home with home work, when do children have time to be just that? Children!!! If you want homework to be removed from schools just sign the petition.
