Equal studying syllabus for GCSE students
The Issue
As we all know, in the UK students sit their GCSEs in year 11. They are pressured to get their best grades because "it is needed for universities" which is partially true. But my concern consists of making students sit papers based on their "abilities" which were predicted from their SATS scores (year 6). This means that the 'smart' people get to sit their higher papers and 'less capable' people get to sit a foundation paper. From what I know (and have experienced) UK is the only country categorizing students based on their abilities. In my opinion, this should be removed and everyone should have the opportunity to sit the same papers and same syllabus and have same opportunities to apply for further courses after their GCSEs. Less capable people should have additional support and help from teachers. Every student is capable of achieving the highest grade if they have the support and confidence to do their best.
