The Issue

As progressives, leftists, liberals, and people of conscience, we demand that Rahm Emanuel not be allowed to serve in the White House in any capacity.

He has continuously disrespected the party's grassroots, base, and younger voters.

He has pushed for welfare reform and mandatory minimum sentences that have hurt marginalized communities.

He has been involved in countless corruption scandals, including with his finance committee chair and zoning committee chair.

As Mayor of Chicago, he closed half of the city's public mental health clinics, mostly on the South Side.

He eliminated the city's Department of Environment, deceptively claiming to make sustainability the goal of every department while massively failing to deliver any progress.

He pushed for water shutoffs which contributed to increased lead levels and refused to pay for replacing dangerous and outdated pipes, as many other cities have done.

He repeatedly undermined teacher's unions and boosted charter schools while slashing public school budgets.

He was accused of executing a "strategic gentrification plan" and trying to cleanse the city of its black residents.

He was also terrible on the issue of policing, presiding over the deceitful official narrative surrounding the shooting of Laquan McDonald. He later wrote an op-ed in the New York Times that was lambasted as "revisionist history" for portraying himself in an overly positive light and twisting facts.

This is not to mention many of the terrible mistakes he made as Obama's chief of staff, including pushing conservatism and boosting GOP talking points on issues such as health care and immigration reform.

Please sign this petition, send it to as many of your friends as possible, and include any further information you have about Rahm Emanuel in the comments. Thank you!!!
