Demanding Answers for Mamta Kafle Bhatt - Why did it take 23 days?
The Issue
Please consider donating to support Mamta's one-year-old daughter.
Mamta Kafle Bhatt is a mother to a beautiful one-year-old daughter, pediatric nurse, and member of the Manassas Park community. Below is a timeline of her last whereabouts:
July 27: Mamta was last seen at the UVA Health Prince William Medical Center
July 28: Mamta spoke to a friend
July 31: Naresh last saw Mamta
Aug. 2: Police responded to a welfare check at Mama's residence and spoke to her husband, who did not want to report her as missing at that time
Aug. 5: Naresh officially reported Mamta as missing to the police
Aug. 5-8: Detectives conducted an "extensive" investigation into the disappearance
Aug. 21: Police serve a search warrant at Mamta's home and name Naresh as a person of interest and said he's not cooperating with police
Aug. 22: Naresh was put into cuffs and taken into custody by MPPD and was charged with Prohibition Against Concealment of Dead Body
The Manassas Park, Northern Virginia, and Nepalese community demand ANSWERS from the Manassas Park Police Department (MPPD), Chief Mario Lugo of the MPPD, and the elected Commonwealth's Attorney for Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park Amy Ashworth.
WHY did it take:
- 23 days to arrest Naresh Datt Bhatt
- 22 days to name Naresh Datt Bhatt as a "person of interest"
- 10+ days to post "Missing on Involuntary Circumstances" flyers for Mamta Kafle Bhatt
