Demand U.S. to Support Egyptian People and Oust Mubarak
The Issue
For 30 years, Egyptian endured insults, abuse, social discrimination and violence by the Hands of Hosni Mubarak and his regime. People have suffered from ruthless policies and terrible acts to suppress their freedoms. Many were kidnapped from their homes and cut off from their loved ones. Families were destroyed, young men and women have lost their will for living a peaceful life, and older generation has wished for many years to die to end their suffering.
For three decades, Egyptians have been mistreated by the hand and the actions of the dictator Mubarak and nobody dared speak out at the risk of being victimized, kidnapped or even killed by the police. The police who have been following his orders for 30 years do nothing but terrorize a whole nation into coercion. Today, after people have become fed up by the actions of him and his two sons, people have stood up to their needs as human beings, which is simply their freedom and basic human rights. No one has asked for money, power or political position. Instead, the only thing asked for is to be treated as humans and for Mubarak to leave the country he has betrayed. After 30 year of neglect, Mubarak has worn out his welcome. He has killed his own people in the streets using various weapons that, some, if not all, are prohibited all over the world. Mubarak used tear gas, rubber bullets and more to suppress the voice of the Egyptian people.
It is time for the U.S. to stand by the basic rights it was founded upon, and support the Egyptian people. After 30 years of no change, Mubarak is in no position to ask for a few months more to make change. His time has come to an abrupt and just end. Support from the U.S. government would almost certainly prevent any further bloodshed and lead to Mubarak’s imminent removal from power. We in the U.S. cannot be hypocritical about who we choose to support and/or condemn, regardless of their relationship with us. In years past, The U.S. has taken a strict stance against the governments of Iran, Georgia and Ukraine for the very same acts the Egyptian government and Mubarak are currently guilty of. However, the only difference is Egypt’s role as a strategic ally in the Middle East.
In signing this petition, you will be asking the United States Government, United Nations, UNESCO and International Court of Justice to take the side of the Egyptian people, and to demand the call for immediate removal of Hosni Mubarak from any position of power in the Egyptian government. Also, for Hosni Mubarak to take responsibility and for his actions against the Egyptian people and be brought up on trial for criminal offenses, as well as stealing billions of dollars of wealth belonging to the Egyptian people.
