Demand Transparency and Fair Practices for South African Foreign Trained Doctors by HPCSA

Demand Transparency and Fair Practices for South African Foreign Trained Doctors by HPCSA
The Issue
We are a group of aspirant medical practitioners, who have been repeatedly challenging the exams conducted by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). However, our concern is that HPCSA, in association with the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), is cultivating an environment that betrays fairness, impartiality, and the very essence of educational meritocracy. It is concerning that the pass rate for these examinations has seen a dramatic plunge from 80% to less than 30% since UKZN took over the hosting of these board exams.
Further proof of this unfair treatment is seen in the fact that the contract with Sefako Makgatlo was not renewed upon their refusal to work with a quota system. This has been interpreted as attempts to restrict opportunities while they've managed to achieve positive results. Meanwhile, the claims by relevant authorities that backlogs have been cleared, despite over 200 doctors failing examinations, seem disingenuous.
We understand that resources may be limited and the capacity of the department might not allow everyone to be absorbed, but using failure as a tactic of control is unethical, detrimental to our careers, and highly discouraging to foreign trained graduates who aspire to serve the healthcare sector of South Africa.
Therefore, we urge HPCSA and UKZN to reassess the manner in which they conduct these vital exams. We ask for transparency, fairness, and an objective evaluation that respects our hard-earned skills and contribution to the field. Let us not hinder potential and talent with administrative roadblocks and biased practices. Please stand with us and sign this petition to demand equitable treatment for foreign trained doctors in South Africa.
We are aslo demanding a remark for our exam. We believe that an independent review of our exams, conducted by external invigilators, is essential to ensure fairness and accuracy.
