As a deeply concerned member of the Calgary community, I have been disheartened by recent events surrounding the failed 2024-2025 late start pilot program. This incident has highlighted the failings of Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) Chief Superintendent, Bryan Szumlas. His complete disregard for teachers, parents and any affected stakeholder is arrogant, condescending and completely inappropriate. This serves as only the most recent example of his historically inadequate leadership.

Szumlas's actions have shown a lack of empathy and understanding towards those who are directly impacted by his decisions. The late start pilot program was supposed to be an initiative that would benefit our students, but its failure under Szumlas's leadership has left many feeling unheard and unimportant.

This isn't just about one failed program; it is about a pattern of behavior that shows little respect for those he serves. We need leaders who will listen to their constituents, take their concerns seriously, and act in their best interests.

Therefore, we call upon all members of our community to join us in demanding the immediate removal of Bryan Szumlas from his position as CCSD Chief Superintendent. Our children deserve better than this; they deserve leaders who will put them first always.
