Demand that Keir Starmer condemn Trump's 'Board of Peace'

The Issue

The so-called “Board of Peace,” associated with Donald Trump, 45th & 47th U.S. Presidwnt, represents a dangerous and illegitimate model of power.

It is an unelected body that claims authority over land, resources, and economic reconstruction in contexts shaped by war, occupation, and mass displacement—without democratic mandate, without the consent of affected populations, and without grounding in international law.

Such initiatives exemplify corporate imperialism: the transformation of devastation into opportunity, where private interests position themselves to extract profit from dispossession, displacement, war, and genocide, and the denial of self-determination. They risk normalising the privatisation of reconstruction and governance, and treating territory and resources as assets to be redistributed by elites rather than rights held by peoples.

Institutions that assume power over land and resources in the aftermath of violence—outside recognised international legal frameworks—are widely regarded by human rights advocates and legal experts as lacking legitimacy and as undermining fundamental principles of international law, including protections against land seizure and forced displacement.

The continued silence of the United Kingdom risks complicity. Simply choosing not to participate in such initiatives is not sufficient. In the face of projects that threaten to normalise dispossession and profit from displacement, war, and genocide, non-engagement without condemnation amounts to tacit acceptance.

In addition, failure to condemn such projects signals acceptance of extractive, profit-driven models imposed without consent, and undermines the UK’s stated commitments to human rights, international law, and post-colonial justice.

Our Demands:

We therefore call on Keir Starmer, UK Prime Minister and the UK Government to:

1. Publicly condemn the so-called “Board of Peace” as lacking international legal legitimacy

2. Refuse recognition, cooperation, or endorsement of its authority, outcomes, or affiliated actors

3. Actively oppose the normalisation of land appropriation, forced displacement, and resource privatisation carried out under the guise of peace or reconstruction

4. Reaffirm the primacy of international law, including protections against land seizure, forced displacement, and post-conflict profiteering

Peace cannot be built by unelected boards or private interests.

It cannot be imposed through profit-driven structures rooted in dispossession.

And it cannot exist where justice is treated as optional.
