The increasing presence of Flock cameras in Euless, TX has made surveillance a reality. These Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras are being installed close to homes and schools, precisely where they should not be, infringing upon our rights as citizens. These have also been installed without a great many citizens of Euless knowing, which in and of itself is morally wrong.

Both the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution and our basic right to privacy are under threat. These surveillance devices are not only intrusive but have also been misused in several instances. There are alarming reports about how collected data have been improperly accessed by police officers to gather information about citizens, including women, exes, and romantic interests. Even more concerning, these devices have been used to observe community pools and children's gymnastic stadiums. How does this have anything to do with traffic safety?

I know some of you may think that because you are law abiding, this doesn't affect you. But do you want to have your details on record with AI companies such as Palantir which already have mass surveillance in play? Do you want your kids to be spied on at the whim of Flock employees? With all this surveillance, this data can be sold and used against you in many more ways than you know. 

I urge Mayor Tim Stinneford to listen to the voices of concerned citizens who value their privacy and demand the removal of Flock cameras from our neighborhoods. We believe there are better, more effective, and less intrusive ways to ensure safety without compromising on our fundamental rights.
