Demand Parliament Improves Pay and Working Conditions for Pharmacists Now

Demand Parliament Improves Pay and Working Conditions for Pharmacists Now
The Issue
As pharmacists committed to serving our communities, we find ourselves at a struggle. Despite risking our own health to ensure the welfare of the public, our remuneration has not kept pace with inflation. We are experiencing an existential threat – a massive brain drain and an increased drive to replace us with pharmacy technicians and AI, threatening our profession's sustainability and potentially endangering the public's health.
Every day, we provide health advice, administer vaccines, manage medication – and so much more. Yet, our contribution to public health is inadequately recognised; our pay, not representative of the vital role we play - a role that can never be entirely replaced by automatons.
Currently, about 70% of pharmacists feel their workloads are negatively impacting their mental health (according to the Pharmacist Support's 2019 "Wellbeing Study"). Without fair remuneration and improved working conditions, we risk an even bigger exodus from our workforce, leaving communities without this essential health service.
Through our association, "Pharmacist Voice," we urgently call upon the Honourable Members of Parliament to enact immediate reforms. It is paramount for society to continue enjoying reliable and scientifically accurate medical advice, and it's imperative that pharmacists are treated fairly.
We must ensure pharmacists cannot be replaced due to cost savings, leading to potential risks for public health. We must strive for a balanced, fair normalisation of our profession's conditions – for our present and future pharmacists – so that we can continue playing an integral role in public health. Sign this petition to stand with us, demanding urgent reforms for better remuneration and working conditions for pharmacists!
