Demand Justice for Kendrick Johnson and Investigate His Death

Demand Justice for Kendrick Johnson and Investigate His Death
The Issue
Kendrick Johnson was just 17 when he was found dead, upside down in a rolled-up gym mat at his high school in Valdosta, Georgia. His parents were told it was a “freak accident.” But from the very beginning, something about that story never made sense. Now, more than a decade later, new evidence shows they were right to question it — and it's time for real answers.
Independent autopsies show Kendrick suffered blunt force trauma. His parents were horrified to learn that when his body was exhumed, his internal organs were gone — replaced with newspaper. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation still insists Kendrick died accidentally, but photos from the initial autopsy reportedly show severe internal injuries and shoe tread marks on his torso. The state has never explained how his organs disappeared or why so many details don’t add up.
Kendrick’s family has spent years pleading for justice — writing letters, filing lawsuits, and asking officials to simply tell the truth. They’ve asked the Georgia Department of Public Health to amend Kendrick’s death certificate based on the new findings. The agency hasn’t updated it. They haven’t even denied the request, which would allow the family to appeal. The silence is its own injustice.
No parent should have to fight this hard just to find out what happened to their child. Kendrick was a real person — a brother, a son, a student. His death deserves a full and transparent investigation. The truth matters not just for his family, but for any family who’s ever been told to stop asking questions.
We are calling on Georgia officials to reopen Kendrick Johnson’s case, fully investigate the circumstances of his death, and bring charges if evidence shows he was murdered. This case is not closed — not until justice is served.
Add your name if you believe Kendrick’s life mattered and the truth still matters.
