Nicholas Manganiello was more than a Marine; he was a loving son, a caring brother, an adoring partner, and a nurturing father. Passionate about serving his country, Nicholas was just about to embark on his dream of being a pilot in the United States Marines  - a dream that was tragically ripped away from him. At the age of 25, as he was riding his motorcycle home one evening, he was brutally killed by a drunk driver, a man with multiple arrests for DUI - a man named Jorge Acevedo. Nick was not simply a casualty of a road accident; he was a promising life demolished by reckless actions of a monster. Now, barely a year later the state of Texas wants to RELEASE HIM FROM JAIL.

Daily, in the United States, 28 people die in drunk-driving crashes — that's one person every 52 minutes. (Source: NHTSA) Yet, appropriate steps towards accountability for the perpetrators and justice for the victims seem elusive. Nicholas’s life ended in an instant, but the pain lingers for his friends, family, and everyone who knew him and loved him.

We, the supporters of this petition, call for the state of Texas to enforce Jorge Acevedo’s prison sentence. We seek that he serve his full 15 years jail time. WITH NO PAROLE. We also call upon lawmakers and enforcement agencies to tighten punitive measures against drunk driving, to prevent other families from suffering such harrowing loss.
