Demand Internet Restoration and Quota Reforms in Bangladeshi Government Jobs

Demand Internet Restoration and Quota Reforms in Bangladeshi Government Jobs
The Issue
In recent weeks, the lives of countless students and citizens in Bangladesh have been clouded by fear and uncertainty. The government's decision to curb protests against quota reform in government jobs has led to grave civil rights violations. The blockade of internet services, inhibition of telecommunication, and heightened military presence has created an environment of rampant fear and oppression. Many of these students and civilians are my friends, my family, people we all care about. A friend, a student named Abu Sayed, was tragically killed by police shotgun fire. More than 100 students from public and private colleges and universities have suffered a similar fate since the beginning of the protests.
To make matters worse, media coverage has been virtually non-existent since July 19th, 2024. This contributes to the alarm experienced by many of us abroad who are unable to connect with our families and loved ones back home. We remain deeply anxious about their well-being in these perilous times.
We petition the Government of Bangladesh to immediately restore internet and telecommunication services, thereby giving citizens the freedom to connect, speak, and inform the world of their situation. Furthermore, we demand a reconsideration of quota reforms to ensure a fair and equitable system for all Bangladeshis. Additionally, we urge for a fair investigation into the violent crackdowns on protests and unlawful killings, and demand justice for those fallen. Join us in this petition, represent our collective voice, and help bring about a positive change in this alarming situation. Please sign and share this petition now.
