My name is Haley Estrada a name that has been lost in the digital world. I am one among many who have fallen victim to hacking and lost access to my Gmail account. This isn't just about losing an email address; it's about losing precious memories, important documents, photos and videos of family members who have passed away. Every time I contact Google for help, I'm told they cannot assist or that it's out of their control.

This is not just my story; it's the story of countless individuals around the globe. According to a report by Verizon, 22% of breaches in 2020 involved phishing attacks which often lead to email accounts being compromised (Verizon DBIR 2020). The current recovery process for hacked Gmail accounts is inadequate and leaves users feeling helpless.

We are calling on Google to improve their account recovery process for hacked Gmail accounts. We need more than automated responses and dead ends when our digital lives are at stake. We urge Google to take this issue seriously and implement better security measures as well as a more effective recovery process.
