Demand Glasgow City Council for Regular Bin Collections and Rodent Control

Demand Glasgow City Council for Regular Bin Collections and Rodent Control
The Issue
As a resident of Glasgow witnessing an escalating rodent problem, this issue has become deeply personal for many of us. Our city, once known for its vibrancy, is now over-run with rodents, rats in particular, which are brazen enough to run around during the day, both indoors and outdoors. It's a terrifying sight that is keeping many residents hostage in their own homes. This isn't just about cleanliness; it's become a matter of safety, especially for our children who deserve a clean and rodent-free environment to play in.
The heart of the problem lies with the Glasgow City Council's less than satisfactory waste management services. We desperately need a return to regular bin collections. We also demand stricter enforcement of anti-fly tipping laws, with hefty fines imposed on those who breach them, as this contributes to the rodent problem.
Glasgow isn't the only city facing this issue; various cities around the world have been successful in controlling their rodent populations. New York City, for example, has seen a significant decrease in rat sightings thanks to dedicated pest control teams and stringent waste management procedures (New York Post, 2020).
We deserve the same proactive approach from the Glasgow City Council. Hence, we urge the council to prioritize improving waste collection services and implementing a comprehensive rodent control strategy. Please sign this petition to make our homes safe, clean, and rodent-free once again.
