DEMAND FOR EQUAL REPRESENTATION: Stop the Silencing of Abuse Survivors at the UofG
The Issue

WE DEMAND CHANGE:
The University of Glasgow’s decision to move 'VICTORIOUS VOICES' - an exhibition by Lee Cooper, featuring art from survivors of childhood sexual abuse, into a side room, from it's original location - the main foyer in the ARC building SILENCES these survivors!
A point strongly raised by the 'Victorious Voices' community in their letter to the university. This relocation contradicts trauma-informed care, which seeks to honor and give visibility to survivor stories.
Meanwhile, a gender-based violence exhibition remains in a prominent location, exposing clear inequality in trauma representation. This disparity not only reinforces stigma but marginalises survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA), denying them the public platform they deserve.
The letter (attached at the top) argues that the exhibition’s relocation diminishes its impact and disrespects the courage of survivors who shared deeply personal stories. Their powerful call to return the exhibition to its original, highly visible space resonates with the need for justice and equal representation for all trauma survivors.
WE DEMAND:
The reinstatement of 'Victorious Voices' in its original, visible space (the main reception in the ARC Building) to foster genuine inclusion, empowerment, and justice for ALL SURVIVORS. ❤️
