My fellow residents of Nixa, Missouri, we are facing a crisis. Over the past year, since the implementation of the new billing system for our city utilities, many of us have experienced inaccuracies in our bills. Our concerns have been dismissed by city utility staff members who fail to initiate requested reviews and brush aside our complaints. This is not just about money; it's about trust and accountability.

There are hundreds of reports detailing billing errors, erroneous meter readings, and failures by the city to accurately account for private solar energy production and its delivery into the city's power grid. These issues affect all electric customers in Nixa but particularly impact those who have experienced dramatic increases in billing, and those that have invested in solar energy solutions with the expectation that their contributions to our shared power grid would be fairly accounted for.

We demand an audit of all city utilities billing and collection practices from January 2021 to present day. This audit should include a thorough review of meter readings as well as data related to electric and solar customers.

We deserve transparency from our local government entities. We need answers about why these errors occurred, how they will be corrected, what measures will be put in place to prevent future inaccuracies - but most importantly we need action now!
