We travel to Dallas from Waxahachie for our daughter to have a descent place to skate board and practice. It would be nice to have something close to home for the kids.
I was born and raised in Simi Valley and am now raising my own family here as well. Both of my pregnancies were high risk and I actually changed employers during one of those pregnancies just so I could continue to be in network with Los Robles hospital. I was no stranger to the ER or the pediatric unit and thankfully delivered both of my children safely. Since then we've had repeat visits for my son's asthma and I when your child can't breathe the feeling of helplessness and urgency can be overwhelming. Luckily we've only been a 7 mile drive away from Los Robles and the pediatric team has always been so wonderful in treating him quickly and keeping everyone calm. I honestly find it disheartening that profits have been prioritized over families. I urge the decision makers to reconsider and put yourselves in our shoes. Even a reduced pediatric ward is better than no pediatric ward at all. Please do the right thing for this community.
I was raised my whole life in Thousand Oaks and now I am raising my family here too! We need to save the pediatric unit at Los Robles to take care of all our children when we need it the most!
My son purchased a home last year in Thousand Oaks. Since then they had a baby and this is where the baby was born. Heaven forbid they need the services that are now in place and will have to travel so far for care They’re planning to raise their children there and it would be such a shame for this community to lose such
As a mother of preemie twins that spent 2 weeks at Los Robles NICU, this is 💔 to hear. The nurses at the NICU and doctors were top notch. I can only imagine that the pediatric unit was the same. I can’t imagine parents in Ventura County having to drive 30+ miles for care. I hope everyone keeps sharing this petition.
My Daughter has severe asthma that has her admitted to the Los Robles Pediatric unit 2-3 times a year during cold and flu season. We have 5 kids total , so when she is admitted my husband and I have to divide and conquer. Having Los Robles close to our home allows my husband and I to swap every morning with him coming to stay with our daughter at the hospital and me being able to have a break to go home to hug my other babies and have a moment to shower. Not having this available to our family will cause a ton of emotional and mental stress on our entire family. We will also no longer be able to use the best ER with the best nurse practitioners ( I’m talking about you Miranda and David!!!!) who love my kiddo like their own and take such good care of her when there.
I had my appendix removed here in 1997 when I was 9 after it had been leaking. I spent a week in the hospital recovering and not once did I feel scared. My parents were there to support me of course, but the nurses and doctors just naturally made me feel safe. I just felt like "okay, hey, I'm just a sick kid in the hospital and I'm going to get better soon" and I trusted them completely! Kids deserve to have this kind of treatment available to them!
As an ER nurse, I help transfer sick kids out all the time. Losing this valuable resource on the eastern end of the county will delay care for so many kids.
