Demand Fair Media Coverage for All WNBA Players and Teams

The Issue

The WNBA is finally capturing national attention—but too often, the spotlight is fixed on just one player or one team. While Caitlin Clark’s incredible performance is worth celebrating, it shouldn't come at the cost of ignoring the rest of the league.

Night after night, stars like A’ja Wilson, Arike Ogunbowale, Napheesa Collier, Alyssa Thomas, and so many others are putting up MVP-level numbers, setting records, and playing with grit, heart, and skill. Entire teams are building playoff-worthy seasons with little more than a few passing mentions — while a single storyline dominates highlight reels, postgame interviews, and media narratives.

This is a disservice not only to the players but to fans, both longtime loyalists and the new wave of supporters. The WNBA has never been more competitive, more exciting, or more deserving of full, inclusive coverage.

We’re not asking for less coverage of anyone. We’re asking for more — for all.

That’s why we’re calling on sports networks, sports journalists, and the WNBA’s media partners to take three immediate steps toward equity:

  1. Balanced airtime in highlight reels and recaps: Ensure nightly WNBA highlights include top plays and standout performances from across the league, not just from a single team or player.
  2. Fair distribution of national TV games: Work with broadcasters to feature a wider range of teams and matchups in prime viewing slots, not just market-driven repeats.
  3. Player-driven storytelling: Actively invest in content that elevates the voices and journeys of players across all teams, so young fans can see themselves reflected in the full diversity of the league

This is about both justice and growth. When more players get seen, the whole league gets stronger. When every team’s fanbase is nourished, the sport thrives.

Let’s show the next generation of athletes that visibility isn’t reserved for a few—it’s something every WNBA player has earned.

Sign this petition to demand that the media and the WNBA uplift every voice, every team, every game.
