Like many Dune fans, I've become fascinated by the richness of the fictional universe Frank Herbert created. A key element of his series is the intricate fictional languages, such as Chakobsa. Yet, while Duolingo offers courses for other fictional languages like High Valyrian from Game of Thrones and Klingon from Star Trek, Chakobsa is noticeably absent. Duolingo's mission is to make learning languages free, fun, and accessible to all. Learning Chakobsa isn’t just about diving deeper into the Dune universe; it's a way of broadening our perspectives and fostering understanding of Herbert's exploration of ecology, philosophy, and human survival. With over 12 million copies of Dune sold worldwide and a recent successful film adaptation, the interest in Chakobsa has heightened. With Duolingo's High Valyrian course in 2019, they partnered with David J. Peterson, a language maker who not only made that language from Game of Thrones but also worked on Chakobsa, so if they partnered with him again, this course would definitely be possible to make. Let's ask Duolingo to fulfill its mission of making language learning accessible by including Chakobsa in its language selection.
