Demand Better Mental Health Support

Demand Better Mental Health Support
The Issue
We are Marshall’s Movement.
We lost Marshall—and our mum—to suicide within weeks of each other. Their deaths could have been prevented if they had received adequate mental health support.
Marshall was failed by a broken mental health system. He was given a prescription and left alone with trauma no one treated. Red alerted and discharged with no MDT meeting.
He needed therapy. He needed care. He needed someone to listen.
We’re calling for change—because too many others are suffering in silence.
We demand:
More therapeutic and trauma-informed placements for people in crisis
Access to tailored therapy—not just medication
Real inter-agency cooperation between schools, health, and social care
Inclusion of families and advocates in mental health decision-making
Early intervention systems to prevent crisis in the first place.
Help us make sure no one else is lost the way they were.

Every day, countless individuals struggle silently with mental illnesses and are unable to access the help they desperately need. It is an issue that touches many families, leaving them with unspeakable tragedies and a void that can never truly be filled.
Mental health services are consistently underfunded, understaffed, and overburdened. According to the World Health Organization, depression and anxiety disorders cost the global economy $1 trillion each year in lost productivity, yet governments continue to fail in providing the necessary resources. In the UK alone, the demand for mental health support services has surged since the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving many individuals on waiting lists for months, if not years.
We can no longer stand idly by while these failures persist. It's time for our governments to take immediate action by increasing funding for mental health services, improving training for healthcare professionals, and ensuring that support is accessible to everyone, irrespective of their financial situation.
Implementing these changes can make a significant difference, saving lives and alleviating unnecessary suffering. Data shows that early intervention and proper management of mental health conditions can drastically improve outcomes, reducing suicide rates and fostering a healthier society.
We call on policymakers to prioritize mental health now. We urge you to join us in pushing for systematic changes that will ensure everyone gets the support they need.
