Demand better diagnosis & care for Endometriosis on the Isle of Man

The Issue

Improve Endometriosis Care on the Isle of Man – We Need Urgent Action!

Did you know that Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth—the same prevalence as diabetes and heart disease. Yet, unlike these conditions, endometriosis remains widely misunderstood, underfunded, and poorly treated, leaving many to suffer in silence.

Despite the severity of this condition, many people on the Isle of Man are left waiting years for a diagnosis and even longer for adequate treatment.

The Isle of Man Health Minister is now aware of this issue and is awaiting an update on our findings. It is imperative that everyone affected by this condition signs this petition to demand real change.

The Reality on the Isle of Man

 • Many individuals are waiting years to receive an endometriosis diagnosis, leading to prolonged suffering.

 • There are no dedicated endometriosis specialists or multidisciplinary teams on the island, forcing many to seek expensive private care or travel off-island.

 • NHS pathways for treatment are unclear, and those in pain are often dismissed or misdiagnosed.

 • The financial burden of seeking care privately is unmanageable for many, leaving them to suffer in silence.

What Needs to Change?

We demand that the Isle of Man Government and Manx Care:

 1. Improve NHS diagnostic pathways – Reduce wait times and ensure healthcare professionals recognize endometriosis symptoms early.

 2. Provide access to specialist care – Establish on-island or off-island referral options for those needing expert treatment.

 3. Offer financial support – Introduce a funding scheme to help those unable to afford private treatment.

 4. Educate medical professionals – Ensure GPs and healthcare providers receive proper training on endometriosis.

 5. Listen to patients – Work with those affected to create policies that reflect the needs of real people.

Why This Matters

Without proper treatment, endometriosis can severely impact physical health, mental wellbeing, fertility, and employment. No one should have to fight this hard for medical care.

We urge the Isle of Man Government to take this issue seriously and take immediate steps to improve care for endometriosis patients.
