As a Christian, I feel underrepresented by the current selection of emojis relating to my faith. While it is true that we have symbols like ✝️, ☦️, and ⛪️, they are simple and lack the detail you can find in emojis for other cultures and religions.

Christians represent about 31% of the global population (Pew Research Center, 2015), and it's important that our digital expressions reflect both the cultural diversity and the significance of our faith as accurately as possible. The current emojis fail to do so, treating our symbols as mere decorations instead of the important religious iconography they are.

From cathedrals to simple wooden crosses, Christianity has an array of beautiful symbols that convey deep meaning. The simple wooden cross is not only a symbol that immediately identifies Christianity, but it is also one that resonates deeply with followers of our faith. But right now, no such emoji exists on Apple platforms.

By adding a detailed wooden cross emoji, Apple can send a message of inclusivity and respect for religious diversity to its users worldwide. It would be a small step, but it would make a great difference for us Christians who want to express our faith using emojis that convey the deep importance of our beliefs with the respect they deserve.
