Personally, I have witnessed the dire consequences of the political changes in 2022 where Sri Lanka lost the regime of its democratically elected President Gotabhaya Rajapakse and cause him to flee the country amidst violence and hatred of a rowdy few. These changes led to the establishment of a Marxist (former terrorist - JVP) government in Sri Lanka which has been pandering to separatist agendas of the LTTE terrorist diaspora. This disastrous turn of events left me and many others pondering the roots of such a drastic change.

A large amount of US$7.9 million was allocated by USAID with the stated purpose of teaching Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid 'binary-gendered language.' However, we strongly believe that these funds could have been used to incite the 2022 riots and establish the regime change in our country.

Ambassador Julie Chung's Colombo embassy made these payments through USAID. We call upon US President Donald Trump to launch a thorough investigation into these transactions. We believe that knowing how USAID used these funds and understanding the purposes stated by the recipients of this funding is essential to shedding light on the drastic political changes that occurred in Sri Lanka in 2022.

Transparency and integrity are the pillars of democracy. We urge President Trump to make public all information related to this funding, including the names of the recipients, the exact amounts they received, and the outlines of their projects.
