Demand Accountability for Fake Citations in White House Health Report

The Issue

Our government owes us the truth. Especially when it comes to our children’s health.

The recent report from the “Make America Healthy Again Commission,” overseen by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was billed as a foundation for policy on kids’ mental health, asthma treatment, and more.

But the report cited fake studies.

Entire papers were made up, authors misattributed, and legitimate research twisted or misrepresented.

This is not a small mistake, it’s a breach of public trust.

Using fake citations in an official government report is incredibly dangerous. Decisions made from this report could affect millions of families. It erodes trust in science, confuses the public, and risks lives.

If a college student submitted something like this, they’d be expelled. Yet our own government calls it a "minor formatting error"?

We are calling on the White House and the Department of Health and Human Services to:

  • Immediately disclose how this happened, including whether AI was used;
  • Retract and fully audit the report;
  • Hold accountable those responsible for approving it;
  • Commit to transparent, peer-reviewed evidence in all future health guidance.

This cannot be swept under the rug. Children’s health is not a political tool. We demand honesty, integrity, and accountability—now.
