The Issue

Growing up, I always believed that we had a responsibility to protect our environment and support the well-being of one another. Yet, every year, at Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert, we witness an alarming disregard for both the community and ecosystem.

Burning Man attracts over seventy thousand participants annually, claiming to uphold a "leave no trace" policy. However, year after year, the evidence suggests otherwise. The breathtaking desert, home to unique ecosystems and biodiversity, is left disrupted and scarred, contradicting their sustainability claims. This desert may look barren, but it plays host to delicate wildlife and ecosystems that are being threatened by this massive annual event.

Moreover, reports have emerged of gross negligence in handling criminal activities at the Burning Man event. From sexual assaults to missing persons and alleged murders, there are serious accusations that have been swept under the rug by local law enforcement and festival organizers. Instead of protecting attendees, it seems they prioritize maintaining the festival's image above all else.

Something needs to change. We demand an independent investigation into the Burning Man organizers and the local police department's practices in the Black Rock Desert. It's crucial that the leadership takes a hard look at their impact on the environment and implement stringent measures to uphold the "leave no trace" promise. Moreover, a transparent, accountable system must be put in place to address and prevent crimes, ensuring the safety of all attendees.

We also call on the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to enforce stricter environmental protections and ensure that any event taking place in the desert genuinely respects the land and its inhabitants.

We must hold them accountable not just for our safety, but for the preservation of our planet. Please join me in urging the Burning Man organizers, the police department, and officials to take their responsibilities seriously. Together, we can demand a safer, more environmentally conscious event. Sign this petition today and help protect both the people and the planet."} We need to stop burning man before it's too late
