Demand accessible phone numbers & human customer service reps for critical industries
The Issue
For all of us who have faced the frustration of endless bots and unhelpful chat logs, the lack of direct human interaction in customer service has become an incessant and unnecessary struggle. Large companies, responsible for crucial services like Google, website hosting, phone service, utility companies, Facebook, internet provision, and so many more have increasingly relied on AI bots and online chat help. This trend, notably pioneered by companies like Comcast, has made it difficult for consumers to resolve critical issues, from managing banking problems to changing personal information.
Just because we can (use AI and chat bots), doesn't mean we should... There's a time and a place for these assistants, but it should never be the only available choice - especially with critical issues. When what should take minutes turns into hours and days of delay - this is unacceptable and we must take a stand now, because this trend will get only increasingly worse, not better.
It's time for change. The convenience of AI cannot match the understanding and effectiveness of human interaction, especially when handling complex issues that require more than robotic responses, chat windows, and one-way email communication options. The reality is that many of these services impact our daily lives significantly, and when challenges arise, the need for immediate and empathetic assistance is paramount. Yet, current practices show a blatant disregard for genuine consumer support, focusing more on cost-saving at the expense of customer satisfaction, simultaneously claiming "Excellent Customer Service."
We demand that large, or critical or complex-use companies be mandated to have accessible customer service phone numbers with real humans ready to assist. This means making these numbers clear and easy to find, and ensuring there is always a person available on the other end of the line to address our concerns during regular business hours. By instituting this requirement, we can ensure customers receive the proper service they deserve, enhancing customer satisfaction and trust within these vital industries.
According to a report by the American Customer Satisfaction Index, industries like those in communications and internet services have shown stagnant or declining customer satisfaction rates over recent years. This can largely be attributed to inadequate customer service experiences facilitated by reliance on technology over humans.
Signing this petition contributes to a powerful collective voice—insisting that companies prioritize their customers by providing direct human interaction for service inquiries and issues. Change is essential for better service, which will benefit both consumers and companies as it fosters loyalty and satisfaction. Let's ensure our needs are met with competence and care. Please support this cause by signing the petition today and let's start making the world HUMAN again. Who knows - it may even help the economy.
