Demand a Safety Inquiry into SpaceX Before Further Launches

The Issue

SpaceX has repeatedly launched its massive Starship rockets, only for them to end in catastrophic failure, scattering debris over communities and the ocean. Most recently, flaming wreckage rained down on Florida, just two months after a similar explosion sent debris falling on the Turks and Caicos. These repeated failures highlight serious safety concerns that must be addressed before SpaceX is allowed to continue launching.

The dangers of these failed launches extend beyond falling debris. The most recent explosion on March 6, 2025, forced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ground flights at multiple airports, including Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and Philadelphia International Airport. Air travel at smaller Florida airports was also disrupted due to space launch debris, posing a major risk to public safety and economic activity.

The FAA and other regulatory agencies must conduct a full safety inquiry into SpaceX’s Starship program to determine whether it meets safety and environmental standards. No further launches should be permitted until a comprehensive investigation is completed, ensuring that future tests do not endanger air travel, people, property, and the environment.
