In recent years, there has been significant controversy surrounding the review of homeopathy by certain companies with alleged ties to the pharmaceutical industry. These organizations, along with certain medical professionals, have discredited homeopathy, asserting that it offers no success as a treatment option. This narrative, however, does not align with numerous studies and testimonies from around the world that highlight the effectiveness of homeopathic treatments.

One such compelling study from Brazil involved 294 children with chronic respiratory conditions. These children received homeopathic treatments and remarkably, only one child experienced a respiratory condition in the following year. In stark contrast, a placebo group comprising 151 children saw 46 of them suffer from three recurring respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) episodes within the same period.

This evidence suggests a clear discrepancy between the outcome of the review and real-world data on homeopathy's efficacy. The apparent bias in the review process calls for a transparent and comprehensive royal commission to investigate these findings. The commission should explore the ties between the reviewing companies, pharmaceutical interests, and the possible influence on the outcome which ultimately affects public health policy.

The introduction of homeopathy into the public health system could potentially revolutionize the way we approach numerous health issues, offering a holistic and patient-friendly treatment alternative. This shift could reduce the dependency on conventional medicines and address concerns about pharmaceutical overreach.

We urge the relevant authorities to establish a royal commission to objectively review the effectiveness of homeopathy and its rightful place within our healthcare system. This is not just about science, but about offering patients choices in their treatment journey and ensuring unbiased assessments free from commercial influences.

Italy; A retrospective observational study was conducted on 105 out of 233 patients suffering from chronic respiratory disease attending the Homeopathic Clinic of the Campo di Marte Hospital in Lucca (Tuscany, Italy) between October 1998 and May 2003. 

Cost of medical treatment; Costs of pharmacological therapy specific for respiratory diseases were reduced by 46.3% (n = 105) in the first year (P < 0.01); and by 47.5% (n = 72) in the second year (P < 0.01) of homeopathic treatment. 

Reduction in general drug costs during homeopathic therapy was 42.4% in the first year (P < 0.01); and −49.8 in the second year (N.S.). 

Costs for patients affected by chronic asthma showed a reduction in expenses of 71.1% for specific medicines relative to the group in homeopathic treatment vs. an increase of 12.3% in the group treated only with conventional drugs after the first year of follow-up and, respectively, a reduction of −54.4% for homeopathic treatment vs. +45.2% after the second year. 

For patients with recurrent respiratory infections we found a reduction of 35.8% in the homeopathic group in the first year, compared to an increase 8.6% of costs for specific drugs in the control group; in the second year the respective figures were −43.6% versus +7.8% in the control group.
