I am a devoted Christian who initially believed that the media's interpretation of the France 2024 Opening Ceremony was an exaggeration. However, with the performers now publicly admitting that their performance was a reinterpretation of the Last Supper, I am deeply distressed. As an individual who consistently respects the beliefs and lifestyles of others, it is disheartening to see my own faith being degraded and as such feel a dire need to act.

The Last Supper, sacred within Christianity for its deep spiritual significance, was mocked during this globally significant event. This spectacle not only demonstrated a disregard for the sanctity of the Christian faith but also illustrated the lack of respect towards millions of Christians worldwide. It is imperative to note that in France alone, there are an estimated 30 to 40 million self-declared Christians, accounting for 46% to 62% of the population as per the Pew Research Center.

We hereby request that the organizers of the France 2024 Opening Ceremony issue a formal apology for their insensitive and misguided portrayal of the Last Supper. In addition, we urge them to ensure that future events foster the values of mutual respect, understanding, and acceptance of all religions and faiths.
