Many of us local dh racers don’t have enough opportunities to compete in high skilled events although we are capable of it. At most getting 3 or 4 races a year on a challenging course that improves our skills while we work on getting to national and international level events. If we keep running supposed “downhill races” on courses that are made to cater to “everyone” including beginners we will not have sufficient race training to progress the amount we need to be prepared for when we reach higher level racing. If it is too dangerous to run a downhill race on a proper downhill track due to people not having enough skill, and having poor decision making causing injuries to themselves. it should not affect the others who have worked hard to achieve their high ability to ride and race, for that reason we want the 2nd round of the cairns dh series to be held on a more technical course than nationals track, such as the world cup track.
