Deliver North Littlehampton's Promised Primary School

Deliver North Littlehampton's Promised Primary School
The Issue
In 2011, planning permission was granted for an urban extension to the North of Littlehampton. This includes more than 1,200 homes, of which currently around one third of these have been build, alongside a range of promised infrastructure to support the increase in population.
One of the promised infrastructure investments on 'Hampton Park' was a new 2-form primary school on the development, creating an additional 420 places when the school is fully operational.
Now, the government has withdrawn all funding and support for the school, meaning all the young people on the new estate will no longer be able to attend a school in their neighbourhood, and will instead need to walk to exisiting, already stretched primary schools elsewhere in the town. This will involve either even more traffic on our local roads, or primary school students being expected to walk over a mile each way, including across the A259 dual carriageway.
The land allocated for the school remains protected by the planning permission until 2027, and cannot be used for any other purpose before that time. It is therefore imperative that we push those in power - namely Nick Gibb, who is not only our MP but also a Minister in the Department for Education, and West Sussex County Council, who are legally responsible for the provision of school places in the area, to act to ensure the people of Littlehampton receive our promised new primary school for future generations.
