Decommission the crosswind runway at Perth Airport

Decommission the crosswind runway at Perth Airport
The issue
Living near Perth Airport has become a relentless challenge for my family and me. There are days when we simply can't find peace; the runway noise pounds in our ears from dawn till dusk, twice a week, without fail. We've reached a point where sleep deprivation affects our daily lives, disrupting our work schedules, and curtailing our children's ability to focus on their studies.
What's more perplexing is that our residential area scores above 25 on the Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF), clearly categorising it as 'unacceptable' for such noise levels. Despite this, the Crosswind runway continues to operate, plunging our community into a constant battle against noise pollution.
The constant barrage of aircraft not only threatens our wellbeing but also diminishes our property values. Many of us have invested our life savings in what was supposed to be a haven. Instead, it's become a constant source of stress and anxiety. It's time for us to take a stand and demand change.
Decommissioning the Crosswind runway is a realistic and necessary step for the community's health and wellbeing. Redirecting flights to runways that impact fewer residential areas is a reasonable approach. The airport authorities must prioritize the welfare of their neighbouring communities and uphold their responsibility to maintain an acceptable noise environment. Especially since the runway is said to be constructed soon. And Perth Airport have plans to extend the crosswind runway which will further exacerbate the stress and anxiety.
Our plea is not just for solace, but for a healthier living environment. Join me in urging Perth Airport and the local government to consider the needs and rights of the residents. Stand with us as we fight for a quieter, more liveable community. Sign this petition to support the decommissioning of the Crosswind runway at Perth Airport."
