According to UK law rape is when a penis enters the vagina, anus or mouth without their consent, the consent being on the receiving end. This means rapists are walking free right now because of a sexist technicality. The law just needs updating.

"Rape
(1)A person (A) commits an offence if—
(a)he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person (B) with his penis,
(b)B does not consent to the penetration, and
(c)A does not reasonably believe that B consents.

Firstly, women on men rapes happen. Women on women rape happens. Male rape happens. Lesbian rape happens. 

This law is easy to understand though.

Part of it is a misunderstanding of what consent and rape actually is. Consent is when a person is fully informed, sober, awake and enthusiastically says yes. Not forced, blackmailed, drugged, or asleep.

This law is based on the concept that rape is just a man in the bushes,  or him breaking into your house.

Another reason for this law being this way is gender roles and the myth of femininity. To be blunt, women are too weak, kind, fluffy and emotional to do such a heinous crime. This isn't true. For one gender is a spectrum and we all fall on different parts.

We need the law to be updated to cover these situations and to bring all rapists to justice.
