The SAIT Legal Assistant Practicum is a major part in activating the knowledge that we received in the last 2 years of classes. Simply providing an online version of this is unfair and compromises the education that students expected when they first joined the program.

Many of the Legal Assistant students were already accepted by law firms and signed contracts to work un-paid for 4 weeks, with the likely possibility of receiving a job offer afterwards.

Although many students have expressed their dissapointment to the new chair of the program, SAIT continues to ignore these feelings and proceed with the easiest option.

It is for this reason that I petition SAIT to postpone the Legal Assistant Practicum in order to retain students expectations of the program and give them a fair fighting chance in the legal industry.
