I was hacked after months of trying to add my number and 2FA to my account. I followed all the protocols stated to retrieve my account only for Facebook's systems to fail and allow the hacker access at every turn, even after confirming my identity. Since the password change system did not work, the hacker was able to access my account again and lock me out. Due to the lack of customer support, I have had no contact from Facebook regarding my concerns and reports filed.

Facebook's broken recovery code system is affecting countless users who are unable to regain control of their accounts after being hacked. The fact that recovery codes and texts are not being sent, combined with errors when setting up two-factor authentication (2FA), leaves users vulnerable and everyones data at risk! This issue needs immediate attention from Facebook.
